A Highway Named "Chayanne"

The people of Chayanne’s native town, San Lorenzo, are joyously celebrating the official name change of Expressway 203. Over the last years, the people of this town have named this highway Chayanne Expressway in honor of their loved artist. This highway which connects Gurabo, Puerto Rico at PR-30 with its parallel route Puerto Rico Highway 183 in San Lorenzo. It is the main route to San Lorenzo and is about 7 kilometers long. It is a dangerous highway, as steep grading is present going down and then going up. The House of Representatives has passed the bill and it is now up to the Senate to approve this into law so that the governor, Luis Fortuño, can make it official. San Lorenzo’s government and citizens feel very strongly about this change and they state that Chayanne’s long career and personal character is a true example of value and pride. Chayanne has become an icon and upholds Puerto Rico’s name on every stage where he has ever performed. With all this said, I am sure that the Senate will also approve this change and the dream of the people from San Lorenzo will soon come true.
