In 2004 Latin Ritmoson came up with the idea that it would give millions of followers of Latin music the opportunity to be there in person when their favorite artist, that they had voted on were recognized for a whole year of work during the Orgullosamente Latino (Proudly Latin) awards ceremony.
There are several categories that fans can vote for their favorite artists, and they have been voting. Currently there have been over 50,000 votes cast. Initially there many artists that were listed under each category, Chayanne is listed in the Trayectoria Latina category, and is currently in the lead! The problem that has developed is that Chayanne’s video “Amor Inmortal”, form his mini-series Gabriel was listed in the “Video Latino del Ano” category. Not only was it listed in the category, it had moved up from the lower part of the list, to among the top five, thanks to all of Chayanne’s many fans…..who by the way have been voting their little fingers off!.....suddenly disappeared from the top five! What is the meaning of that? That’s all I want to know.
I have absolutely nothing against the other artists that are represented; I enjoy their music as well, but fair is fair. If the fans are meant to cast votes for their favorites, then “Amor Inmortal” should be in the top five.
Oh well…such is life. Never fear Chayanne, those of us that love you will continue casting our votes for you. I hope to see you walk across that stage and get the recognition that you deserve. ~Pandora
