Hot Off the Press: Billboard's Best of 2010 Released. Chayanne, Aventura & Enrique Iglesias Rule!!

Hips are not the only ones that don’t lie… Neither do the Billboard Charts.  This week, the official End of Year charts were published by Billboard for the best of 2010.  Many of Caja’s favorites made it big this year.  Of course I must begin with Chayanne (I know you saw that coming!).  It does not surprise me at all that his album No Hay Imposibles put him on the top 10 of almost all the pop charts.  The album, which was released on February 23, 2010 along with its first single Me Enamore de Ti have sustained good numbers through the year, which I am sure is the result of the fact that
1) The album absolutely rocks and…
2) The accompanying tour was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

In summary, Chayanne reached the following position in the Latin Music Charts:
Chart                                   Position
Latin Pop Songs                 #6  out of 25
Hot Latin Songs                 #36 out of 75
Hot Latin Songs Artist       #21 out of 50
Top Latin Albums              #8 out of 75
Top Latin Album Artist      #16 out of 50
Latin Pop Albums              #5 out of 20
Latin Pop Album Artist      #6 out of 10

Let’s hope that these showings serve as a wakeup call for a certain award committee. *wink*

The undisputed rulers of the Latino charts this year are Aventura and Enrique Iglesias.  Aventura are nicknamed the Kings and that they are.  The album The Last, released on June 9, 2009 has taken the #1 position in the Top Latin Albums, Top Latin Album Artist, Tropical Albums and Tropical Album Artists, Tropical Songs and Tropical songs Artists.  I know you’ve found yourself signing “Dile al amor, que no toque mi puerta…” more than once.  The song Dile Al Amor also ranked #4 in Latin Pop Songs, and #3.

Topping the Hot Latin Songs and Latin Pop Songs chart is Enrique Iglesias and Juan Luis Guerra with their hit Cuando Me Enamoro, (found in this album Euphoria, released July 6, 2010).  Euphoria, his comeback album after a 3 year hiatus, also holds the #1 position in the Latin Pop Albums chart and Latin Pop Album Artists and the #2 position in the Top Latin Albums chart.

Other notables include Alejandro Sanz, whose Paraiso Express  (released April 27, 2010) granted him the#25 position in Hot Latin Songs Artists and the #17 position in Latin Pop Albums.  Mark Anthony rounded #3 position in Top Latin Albums, #2 position in Latin Pop Albums and #2 position in Latin Pop Album Artists for Iconos

I am personally very happy to see where the top of the charts laid this year.  2010 was a very good year for Latin Music and all chosen artists are well deserved.  Here’s to hoping 2011 will be equally amazing.
