Chayanne In The DR, A Little Bit Of Amazing Is Better Than Nothing

Last night Chayanne performed in joint concert with fellow Latin Mega Entertainer, Marc Anthony, as well as the new to the music scene Amelia Vega (Miss Universe 2003).

Fans of both Chayanne and Marc Anthony had found out on Twitter that the concert was going to be telecast via live feed to the internet by Orange Music. (This is a part of Orange Dominica. Orange Dominica is a mobile network operator in the Dominican Republic which is owned by France Telecom as a part of its Orange brand.)

The Tweets from Orange Music (@OrangeRD) gave fans the time of the show and the link to the website where they would be able to tune in and watch the concert, live and on line. Well, needless to say fans of both artists around the globe wanted to tune in and watch what was with out a doubt going to be an incredible concert. It doesn't take long for information like this spreads, you know how it goes, "They tweet two people, then they tweet two people", well you get my meaning.

Initially everything with the broadcast was going as planned, but then the unexpected occurred, technical difficulties. The start of the concert broadcast was delayed. Chayanne was to go first, then Amelia, and then Marc. As fans watched the concert feed, they could also leave comments via twitter, those comments could be seen running along side the screen.

And so the concert finally begins, but the problem is it really wasn't what the fans who were tuning in were expecting. The unspoken expectation was that the entire concert was to be show on the feed. When Orange tweeted that they would only be able to show two songs of each artist for, you could feel that fans were a bit disappointed, but still excited none the less. Things did get a bit more intense the show went on when fans that were watching on line realized that they were actually not going to be showing the show from a close perspective, but more or less from the perspective of a fan attending the concert who happened to get there late and had to stand at the back of the venue.  Then it seemed as if the feed was experiencing one problem after the other. Orange was really sweet and tried to accommodate viewers by tweeting pictures and announcements from the artists. But alas, it got to the point where I do believe they had to cut the feed. But they did continue to tweet picture of the artists etc. But if you know the nature of many people you can about imagine some of the tweets that Orange started to receive.

All I can tell you people is this, Orange Music wanted nothing more than for the fans of these amazing artists who could not attend the concert, to be able to share in the experience as best they could. "The best laid plans of mice and men...", as they say. People, stuff happens! I'm just grateful that Orange Music was able to share some really amazing photos and info on our favorites as they gave killer performances.

So thank you to Orange Music, Marc, and Amelia for a great time....and Chayanne for bringing it to the people the way you always do. As far as I'm concerned, I'm just happy to have been able to experience a little bit of something that I know was amazing, than to have not experienced it at all.

So just rub some dirt on it people and enjoy these amazing photographs from the evening!
