10 Things We Don't Know about Chayanne....Really?

There was an article in LaPrensa titled "Las 10 cosas que no sabĂas de la vida de Chayanne" (Ten things You Didn't Know About The Life of Chayanne)

Ok, so I had to laugh! Apparently this article was written for the novice Chayanne fan. ;) The 10 facts that they gave were:

1. Is a fan of tennis, water skiing, swimming and basketball.
2. Admires Mother Teresa of Calcutta and her favorite character is Robin Hood.
3. In April 2010 he acquired nearly 30 acres in Uco Valley, Argentina. There Malbec grape vines are planted.
4. As a teenager, he opened an eyebrow playing basketball. So he had to have 28 stitches.
5. He's crazy about homemade pasta and rice and beans. He also likes steak with onions.
6. His wife Marilisa was a finalist in the Miss Venezuela 1988. She is a lawyer.
7. In the early 90's, he was appointed UN Special Ambassador for the International Immigrants Foundation for his philanthropic work.
8. Is a regular theater, art exhibitions and is also a heavy user of Internet and social networking
9. In 1989 was the image of Pepsi. United States recorded the first commercial broadcast in Spanish in an English-language channel.
10. At age 10 he accompanied his sister Clara to a test with the group Los Chicos. I take him to do the casting and stayed.

I think the article would have hit a home run if they had been able to tell us 10 things that we really don't know about Chayanne! What those questions would be....I'll leave to your imaginings...why? Because most of the questions that most of you have I probably could write in this blog and keep it family friendly. LOL

So where are we now? Chayanne's officially passed the one year mark of hi NHI tour, which started in May 2010, and is scheduled to end in June 2011.

So get your tickets to these last few concert dates while you can...because after this...the waiting will begin again.....

Let me start by saying that I am partial to black and white photos. There's just something about them, a simplicity, but at the same time they seem to allow the viewer a deeper insight into the subject. With that said, this photo is amazing....it's just Chayanne in a chair....but it's breath taking.

I have also told you before that I don't think there has ever been a camera that Chayanne has met that he didn't get along with. It could be a cell phone camera or the pricey lens of a professional. The picture quality itself may vary, but Chayanne always looks amazing.

You know what I like about this picture the most? It's simplistic beauty......well I'm sure that you've heard enough of me, just enjoy the scenery! LOL

A Shot To The Heart, Chayanne Rocks Out Vina Del Mar!

Chayanne gave one of the greatest performances of his life, tonight, at the Vina Del Mar Festival in Chile. Ok so that's purely based on my opinion, and you may disagree...and if you do disagree with me...then just admit that you didn't see it!

Chayanne was one of the few performers that at my last check sold out their show at the festival, and one of the direct reasons that he was sold out....the people know that they're going to be rocked out of their seats, and millions of fans, who weren't able to attend the concert in person were no exception.

Thanks to Chile Vision, fans round the world were able to tune in an watch this spectacular show in real time! From start to amazing finish, you were there, with a front row view. I'm going to take a second just to say that even though Chayanne seemed to have somewhat of a head cold, his vocals were top notch. He did not miss one beat or note....and if you know anything about singing at all, you know how very hard this can be.

And the dancers......OMG!!!! I still hold each and everyone of the previous crew close to my heart, this crew is equally amazing!! You would have to see it to believe it! The guys are off the chain! Each one of them brought it to the table. *Special shout out to Brandon, I saw you do your thing Cuzzz!* And to top in off in what is no less than a stroke of genius, long time choreographer to Chayanne, Nancy O'Meara added two more killer ladies to the pack, three of them you've seen with Chayanne before, but there is a new Guajira in residence, and her name is Anthea Young, she is gorgeous! This woman did an amazing arabesque that would make any dancer worth their salt totally green with sheer envy. Special hats off the Anthea!

Anthea Young

From start to finish it was a party, not just any party, but a celebration! To top off the festivities Chayanne was the recipient of all of the top honors that an artist is capable of being given at the festival. The awards were, the "Antorcha de Plata (Silver Torch), "Antorcha de Oro" (Gold Torch), "Gaviota de Plata" (Silver Seagull), and the "Gaviota de Oro" (Gold Seagull) These prizes are awarded by the audience.

The majority of Chayanne fans around the world could not be there in body, but we were there is heart and in spirit....I have no doubt that Chayanne could feel every bit of the love and warmth that his fans every where felt...and every time that he received on of his awards, I was thinking to myself.....this is just so right!

I have not doubt that by the time you read this post, there will video clips from the concert flying all over the internet...so do yourself a favor, if you didn't get to see it tonight....catch one of the clips.

I leave you with a smile on my face and much wanted shot to my heart!

Chayanne Walks Around In Flip Flops And Shorts Around Condado

Many thanks to Bariloche for the translation!

This year it looks like he took a long one… (a vacation) and the ready lens of Primera Hora caught Chayanne once again, in Puerto Rico, but this time in shorts, rubber sandals and baseball cap.  He was on an outing with his wife Marilisa Marronese, his daughter Isadora and other family members at the restaurant Pelayo’s in Condado.

Chayanne, as he usually does, was driving his large family in his own jeep while he vacations in Puerto Rico.

Stoked.  That’s how fans, among them Eva Gadea and her friends, of the secretive and very incognito (though always friendly) idol were left upon seeing him exit the restaurant sporting his “batata power”.

Similarly, upon setting foot on the island, we captured the new Puertorican hall of famer Roberto Alomar, who arrived last Sunday at 1:00 pm on his private jet and with his staff at the Muñiz base in Isla Verde.

And in the gardens of La Fortaleza, in the midst of friendly conversation with Alomar, we also saw Luce Vela and Luis Fortuño.

This time take me out with a smile!, said the governor.

Also, in his dressing room at Centro Bellas Artes (CBA), we surprised Raymond Arrieta, who is touring the island with his comedy shows.

Additionally, in the traditional Kings Day party given by publicist Enrique Grau Pelegri we came upon Jose Aponte, Lissie Rosso, the cuatro-player Prodigio Clauridio, Zeny Bevaraggi, Marcos Rodriguez Emma and Kenneth McClintock.

Someone else the ready lens of Primera Hora surprised was Ivette Cintron (who looked great) with her new love, Emilio Morales.

Wilkins could not be missed, whom his publicist Enrique Grau Pelegri, could bring back from retirement in 2012 with the “25th Margarita Anniversary Tour”, as he commented.

A Day Without Chayanne...What's a Guajira To Do?

Well...last night was the last night of the second leg of Chayanne NHI tour, and by all accounts he set Houston on fire! Of course he did! Chayanne never disappoints!

So what do we do? We relive the moments by sharing our funny and sometimes poignant concert stories. We scour the internet for pictures, we hit up YouTube, Facebook, and MySpace for any tidbits that we might have missed. We will give Google the once over to see if there are any stories that we haven't seen, or to read the same stories that have been printed ten times over in one language or another......or we will blog!

I have to admit that there is this tiny spot of empty that want's to be filled up with the possibility of going to another NHI concert, but at the same time, I'm hoping that Chayanne is able to get in some much needed family time before he hits the road again.

But, the good thing is that all my Guajira sister's in various Latin countries are getting ready to get their second dose of Chayanne goodness...they it's the cure for whatever is ailing you *WINK* Here are the dates so far for the tour:

Mexico
21 January           Mexico DF, Mexico            Auditorio Nacional
22 January           Mexico DF, Mexico            Auditorio Nacional

25 January           Mexico DF, Mexico            Auditorio Nacional

26 January           Mexico DF, Mexico            Auditorio Nacional

Puerto Rico
11 February         Hato Rey, PR                     Coliseo De Puerto Rico
12 February         Hato Rey, PR                     Coliseo De Puerto Rico

Chile
26 February         Santiago, Chile                  Movistar Arena
Of course we here at the Caja will do our best to keep you as up to date as possible on any changes or additions to the tour schedule.
With that said....I'm going to pour myself another cup of coffee, pop in my head phones, turn my iPod to my favorite Chayanne playlist.....and come to the realization that there are no days without Chayanne....as long as we hold him in our hearts.......because that's the way Gaujira's Do It!!
Much Love Chayanne. Are you ready to rock the world? Of course you are!! Be happy, be healthy and be blessed!!

Chayanne, Sade....Spontaneous Combustion!

I have often twirled around in my mind if Chayanne was going to do a new duet with who do I think would be the best match. I'm going to tell you off the top, I am NOT a music or voice aficionado...but I know what I like to hear. This thought continued to turn over and ruminated in my mind, then something extremely coincidental happened. Sade's latest CD, "Soldier of Love was released on February 9, 2010. "Soldier of Love" is only her 6th studio release in her 25 years in the industry, and her first since her last album "Lovers Rock" on 2000. Sade's sultry and smooth as silk vocals are only matched by her simplistic but stunning beauty. Hot off the press, Sade has received two nominations for the 2011 Grammy's one for "Soldier of Love" for "Best R&B Performance by a Group", and the other for "Baby Father" for "Best Pop Performance by a Group"

Then, Chayanne's most recent CD "No Hay Imposibles" dropped February 22, 2010. "No Hay Imposibles" brought an entire new pallet of vocal colors to Chayanne's repertoire, while at the same time preserving all of the qualities in his music that his fans have come to not only love, but to cling to.

"Chayanne’s 22nd album is a comfortable effort divided between the usual romantic ballads and effervescent dance songs fans have come to expect from the Puerto Rican singer. Even though he’s been down this road many times before, No Hay Imposibles is still filled with the enthusiasm and conviction that many artists less established than the million-selling Chayanne lack. When he sings of a first encounter for what must be the umpteenth time, believing that he’s free-falling into a new love is as easy as ever it was. Highlights include the elegant “Dime” and the sunshine-bright retro rocker “Besos en la Boca (Beijar Na Boca),” plus “Me EnamorĂ© de Ti,” the theme from the soap opera Corazon Salvaje."  ~ David Jeffries, All Music Guide

(Don't get me started on Chayanne and the Grammy's that's a blog for another day)...and then it hit me! What if Chayanne and Sade were to record a duet!

I have to tell you, I think it would be a match made in record heaven! After Chayanne's recent performance in Atlantic City, at the Trump Taj Mahal, a few of us were sitting around (You know who all of you are *giggle*) talking and exchanging ideas and thoughts about Chayanne of course, among other things, and I brought up the subject of duets. I said what about Chayanne and Sade? There was a general consensus that this would be off the chain!

Think about it for a minute, picture with me if you will.....close your eyes and imagine......Sade's silky alto voice, paired with Chayanne's smooth tenor. Their ballad styles are beautifully complementary to one another, both have an international appeal, and to top it off both are on the Sony Music Label (Chayanne is listed under Sony Music Latin, and Sade is listed under RCA, which is a label group under Sony Music Entertainment). What could be more fortuitous than that! (Besides from what I hear Papi is crazy about Sade, *wink* and Sade must dig the hot Latin thing, after all she was married to Spanish film maker Carlos Scola for three years)

Then of course if they were to record a duet together, there would have to be a video right? Of course! How good would they look together in the vid? Off the scale! Now that would be sexy!

So Chayanne, Sade, if either one of you just happen to come across this blog post, just stop and give this some serious thought...twirl it around...ruminate on it.....after all....No Hay Imposibles para los Soldiers of Love!
