Chayanne - That's My Story and I'm Sticking to It!

With the second leg of the tour quickly approaching I have been thinking of all the previous Chayanne concerts I’ve gone to.  I’ve done the math and guess what… I have attended more concerts out of my own city than in it. Yes. I am guilty.  I am a serial traveler with a taste for good concerts.  Is it my fault if the concert always happens to be Chayanne’s? (hehehe).  In short here is my Chayanne traveling adventures:
5/3/2007 --- Madison Square Garden show.  My first Chayanne concert ever (First one I could afford now that I had graduated college!)
5/4/2007 ---- Of course one show wasn’t enough.  To MSG I went again.  This doesn’t count as traveling though, as NYC is my home town.
6/23/08 ---- Fly to Toronto, ON in Canada.  My first time out of the USA on my own.  First time I met Chayanne.  The trip was more than worth it in my book.
I went through a bit of Chayanne withdrawal at this time since the tour was taken to Spain for the summer and Argentina for the fall.
12/15/2007 ---- I gave in to my craving and indulged in Chayanne again, this time in my native country Dominican Republic.
3/4/08 ---- I promised myself to make it to the last concert of the tour and I did.  I flew all the way to Panama.  My first time in Central America.  Totally worth it!

Saddened over the end of the tour, I was very excited to see Mega radio station in Miami opened a contest for the Mega Lola, whom when selected got a meet and greet with Chayanne.  Of course, I entered the contest and upon learning I was a finalist I did not think twice to fly to Miami in May of 2008 for this event.  I didn’t win.  But I wasn’t disappointed.  :- )

Two years later, FINALLY!  Chayanne tours again.  I decided this time go to the first show of the tour but could not.  It was in LA on a week I could not take vacation from work, so I settled for the 3rd and 4th shows in Cabazon, CA and San Diego, CA.  So needless to say… To the other side of the country I went (My first time again) in May of this year.   June came and it was finally time for New York City to indulge in Chayanne again (of course I was in attendance with the awesome Pandora) and finally I went to the last show of the USA 1st leg tour in Boston, MA.

If you did the math that's:

9 concerts outside of NYC most of which I had to fly.
3 concerts in NYC
Now that the second leg of the tour is approaching I will most likely attend Atlantic City and Mohegan Sun at the end of this month.  But after ranting for this long, you must be asking yourself… WHY???
See I am very well aware that most would classify my traveling adventures into one of these categories
1.       A groupie
2.      A psychotic obsessed fan

My own friends, whether jokingly or lovingly tell me constantly that I am ‘obsessed’ with Chayanne and to be honest I completely disagree.  I have been on the fan scene for a very long time now, and I have met the crazies.  And I don’t just mean mildly crazy.  I mean full blown psychotic and delusional people.  I am just someone who deeply admires him.  The way I see it is, if I now have the means to indulge in something I was not able to before, why not?  Especially when I spend more than 10  hours a day working.  I have done my time people.  For the last 25 years, my life revolved around going to school, working, paying my bills and going back to school for a masters (which I proudly earned in May 2010), so why can’t I set out to do what I enjoy most?  Traveling and seeing Chayanne in concert.

I consider myself to be a loving fan.  I am someone fortunate enough to have the means to travel and support his career this way.  It is hurtful for people to label me as obsessed.  I think that they simply do not understand.  If you have never felt passion in life then you cannot understand me.  Music (not just Chayanne) is MY passion.  It’s my drive while I am at work to keep sane and to keep from screaming out in agony from all the stress… it is my sedative when I get home and I just need to chill out.  It is my hype when I want to get up and dance and have a great time… It is my trigger on days when I just need to sit and cry for whatever reason it may be…. Music is simply indispensable to me.

This is my truth.  and I'm Sticking to It!

Chayanne Returned to Stimulate His Chilean Fans!

The Puerto Rican singer opened tonight Santiago leg of his tour "No Impossible" in a packed and cheering Movistar Arena.

SANTIAGO .- "And as always I say tonight can you do with us what they want," Chayanne invited as usual shortly after started his new gig in Santiago, and as always also the result was a mass cry of his followers.

May change the names of the tours and records, which in this case are summarized in "No Impossible", the title of his latest album and this tour, but the effect is already used. The Puerto Rican singer turned to cause the delirium of his audience in Santiago.

The successful all-terrain "Provócame" marked the start of the show, after a few seconds of opening that were tested all the attractions that would be deployed later in the day: sound, gymnastics, ballet, visual projections on big screen fireworks, explosion, smoke and, finally, standing on top of a platform, Chayanne in person, like an apparition still, jacket, shirt, tight trousers, breathing, smiling the entire width of the face, and constantly moving and provocative in tune with the title of the first song.

Thereafter, the singer and dancer launched a repertoire that never loses the balance between his two secret weapons, which is the same as saying its two speeds: fast and slow.  Chayanne party with two dance tracks are worth it in record time massive song "My dear rich, mijito rich."

After two ballads balances to lower speed and increase the screams. And continue inserting and proven hits like "Lola", "A Century Without You", "If you're not (No impossible)" from her new album "Wayward" "If you go", "Like" "Your mouth", "Guajira" and traced to its beginnings eighties, his first hit, "Party in America."

Some fifteen thousand people, according to organizers, came to the first of three shows that will Chayanne in the capital until Saturday 6.

It was a final majority of women who crowd the enclosure Movistar Arena, while a public section. Beyond their natural differences between women and girls, blondes or brunettes, smooth or curly, all these women were at the same time happy and arranged to go to a party.

"They can do with us what they want," said Chayanne, but rather he who does what he wants.

"Because I like your face / I like your hair" for example, sings the chorus of "Like", and get a blonde at random from the audience to touch the face and then touching their hair in perfect synchronization with the letter that is singing the star.  That is having the power.

Chayanne, U.S Tour, Second Leg.....It's On!

It's all over the internet, Twitter, MySpace, FaceBook, and yes even YouTube! Chayanne is preparing to bring his off the chain "No Hay Imposible" tour back to the U.S.

Die hard fans have already purchased their tickets in pre-sale, but don't get it twisted, tickets are still available. People are checking prices for air fares, hotels are being booked. Fans are tweeting, texting, and emailing each other trying to figure out how they're going to hook-up.....and I'm no different.

I will have to tell you, I'm even more excited about seeing Chayanne this second go round than a I was to see him for the very first time. Why you ask? How could the second time be more exciting than the first? I think because this time, I KNOW what I'm in for, one of the best nights of my life! Plus....I'm more prepared, Bat Man had his utility belt, I have my Chayanne concert kit. Oh yes people....Pandora had been preparing.

What's in  my kit you may ask, yes, beyond the basics, concert ticket, travel agenda, train tickets etc. But this time I have all the things that I didn't have the first time. The last time I had really good seats, but this time I have great seats so, I have to make sure that I pack my quick make-up fixes (You know this time her might actually see the Chayanne crazed chocolate sister in second row center!) a sister has to look good. I have my new dummy proof camera (I ready to catch some pics of my own), binoculars, that's right binoculars (I want to see Chayanne's smile...and other things as up close and personal as possible *WINK*). Gum, breath mint, I even have one of the Crest Toothpaste quick bush things (you  never know who you might get next to....a girl can dream can't she)

All I can say is, the games are afoot.....come on Chayanne....Bring It On!
~Peace

CHAYANNE -ITIS!

Today has been one of those I learned to recognize long ago.

Symptoms:

1- Constant thought obstruction
2- Sweaty palms caused by visual stimulation
3- Insatiable need to get up and dance one minute and the next wanting to swoon and accommodate yourself in your lover's arms
4- Daydreaming directly related to Symptom #1
5- Smiling to myself --- for no apparent reason. Again, related to Symptom #1.

Diagnosis:
My friends I have been diagnosed with Chayanne -itis and unlike the flu or any other ailment, this is one I thoroughly enjoy! I believe this recent episode is the result of the 2nd leg of the USA tour starting soon. Next week to be exact. God knows how hard it was for me to not impulsively buy a ticket to the Vegas or California show... and then a plane ticket. I'm actually quite amazed I didn't. (Oh my!! Have I learned to control my impulses??!!).

Treatment:
Unfortunately there is no known cure for Chayanne -itis. There is however a way to minimize the symptoms --- it involves brainstorming over what to wear for one very special night, singing to the top of your lungs in a crowd of thousands, drooling (A LOT), and allowing yourself to be blown away by physical and spiritual beauty all in one dose.

How can I put into words the emotion that is felt in anticipation to the show? It is even harder to express the emotion felt once in your seat at the venue when the lights go out. Pandora and I have 24 days to go until this amazingly indescribable moment. I wonder if I could just go to the Vegas Show instead… then I’d only have to wait 11 days… Mmmmmm, there go my impulses again….

((Opens browser…. Frantically searching for flight))

$600 round trip + $700 Concert Tix, Hotel & Food...NEVERMIND!

I guess I will have to practice the art of patience. For those of you who will see Chayanne in his earlier USA shows, I hope you enjoy every millisecond of it. Savor it and think of how fortunate you are to be able to enjoy such an amazing show by an even more amazing artist.

From Spain, to Holland....To You, An Interview With Xandro Leima

I have to tell you that I am tickled pink (and pink is a hard color to get from brown! LOL) to have the opportunity and the pleasure to post and interview with the incredible up and coming Latin artist Xandro Leima! Xandro's official bio is below the interview, so for all of the formal details of Xandro his bio is an absolute must read!

But what I want to share with you is this, not only is Xandro over the top talented, he is one of the warmest, friendliest, and interactive Latin artists that I know. I had the pleasure of befriending Xandro a few years ago when a very good friend to both of us, Karin (who by the way is the genius behind Xandro's web design!) wrote me a note and said you should check out this new Latin artist named Xandro Leima. I met Karin a long time ago, so she knew I had developed a love of Latin music. So what did I do? If you know me you know what I did, I hit up iTunes and there was Xando's CD “Desesperadamente”. I downloaded it...and the rest is history.

If you have the opportunity to follow Xandro on his MySpace Page, FaceBook Pageor even Twitter!

You will find that not only is he sexy, sexy fine! (You can look at the pictures yourself and see those great big browns!!), but he really does send his own Tweets AND he interacts with his followers on FB and MS!

But if you want to see Xandro Leima in over the top Latin Fine detail you have to check out the Xandro Leima Official Website! Fondly known, as XL.NET this site has hundreds of pictures (most if not all of them taken by Karin), Xandro’s music, lyrics, video’s, and even live interviews (to answer you question, yes he sounds just as sexy as he looks!)

I want to give much love to my girl, and now my partner in crime Bariloche for all of her help with this interview!

So I hope that all of you enjoy this question and answer session as much as I did!
Peace~

Q. Prior to initiating your solo career, you were part of the duet Romanze and the Britannia Orquestra. How would you define this time in your artistic life?

Well, without any doubt my stage in Romanze was my beginning as a singer, it was a period of learning, but at the same time maybe where I have enjoyed this profession the most because in those years I was not aware of the negative part of this music business, and everything I did, performances, composing, everything was pure and full of illusion. Brittannia was my "personal Operacion Triunfo" where I matured as an artist on stage. I realized around 300 live performances throughout Spain, it was a very nice period for me.

Why did you decide to pursue a solo career?

It was a joint decision with Jose Manuel. (Romanze) He decided to change his life in another direction, to get married, to form a family, and he thought that it would not be compatible with an artistic career and I decided to go solo in this crazy but exciting adventure.

Did you always know singing was your life's calling?

Well to be honest, no. I was always a boy that loved the music. Instead of being with other children, playing football, I was remaining inside with the cd´s of my parents, listening to music for hours and hours...my "call" came when I was 18 years old!! Haha, it is never late to start, right?

Have you ever composed (either music or lyric)?

Yes of course, I love composing, right now I am dedicating a lot of time to it, not only for me, but also for other artists.

You are currently working on a new album, due out this year.  What can your fans expect?

Jaja.

Well, with regard to this I cannot give you a lot of information, I am working on several projects simultaneously but I do not know which one will see the light first, all I know is that you will have Xandro Leima for a long time! Haha.

Do you personally look up to any artist in particular, either for their voice, musical styling or artistic charisma?

I am a person who not just appreciates the voice but also the charisma. An artist does not only consists out of a beautiful voice, it is much more...but there are a lot of singers who influenced me...when I was a child Eros Ramazzotti, Sergio Dalma, Julio Iglesias and in the present Luis Miguel, Cristian Castro, Alejandro Fernandez, that is for music in Spanish. In International music I love American music,  R&B, American pop in general, to me Robbie Williams seems to be the most complete artist that I know, he sings everything and very well!

Is there anyone that you would love to do a duet with?

Ufff … so many!! Haha, for me any artist with talent would be a good candidate for a duet.

In previous albums, you have gifted us with ballads and a few rhythmic songs.  How would you define your music style?  Do you prefer one more than the other?

The songs mark the style, I am not considered to be a singer of only one style, I love trying new sounds and facets of me…but without any doubt I love the ballad.

They say America is the land of dreams, where everything is possible.  Why have you decided to win over Europe before crossing to the USA and Latin America mainstream?

It is necessary to try new things, right? I hope Europe will be the door to America. I chose Holland as country for this launching for it's multiculturality and good refuge to all kinds of artists. I hope it works! Haha.

Has a fan ever told you something that has been unforgettable to you? If so, what was it?

Undoubtedly, phrases like “continue because you are very much worth it... ” but in other words, I have fans who will be unforgettable for me, Karin and Ron from Holland, Gemma from Spain they are very important cornerstones in my career. A fan can give an artist new heart, I know from experience. The fans are everything.

Del sol de Marbella al de Bariloche!

I wanted to take this opportunity to formally introduce a new staff member to Pandora's Caja. You may know her for her off the chain translations in Bariloche's Music Box and other translation work that she's done for the Caja, but now she part of the crew! Bariloche has been a long time fan of Chayanne and a very good friend to me. Not only will she be bringing her love of Chayanne to the Caja, but she will also be bringing her knowledge of music, and passion for life. Please celebrate with me the very welcome addition to the Pandora's Caja....Bariloche

Hello blogging world!  I am very happy to join you :) .  This being my very first blog I thought it appropriate that I tell you a bit about myself.  I am a fun, life loving person who has a few… vices.
Vise #1 – Chayanne.  (C’mon, you know you saw that coming lol).  I have been a fan of Chayanne for what seems to be centuries.  I was only 9 years old when I first started loving his music (and 12 years since I started drooling over him)  and 18 years later I can say with confidence that I am as in love as I have ever been.
Vise #2 – Music.  I love everything about music.  The feelings it invokes, the passion with which songs are written (both the music and lyrics).  I have been very fortunate to have had opportunities and met wonderful people who have helped me become involved with music.  I was blessed with the opportunity to interview one of Latin America’s biggest stars, Juanes for Univison.com when his mega album “La Vida es un Ratico” was released 2 years ago.  I’ve also partaken in the promotion of several sold-out concerts of artists such as Luis Miguel and Fonseca in Toronto.  In all honesty, I can say that music is my balance in life.
Vise #3 – Work.  I could elaborate on this but I’ll keep it short.  I am an Engineer.  Civil Engineer to be exact and I work in the construction industry.  Do I love it?  Yes.  Has it turned me into a workaholic?  YES…. Thank God for Vise #2!
Vise #4 – Traveling.  Is there anything better in life?  Well… except for maybe winning the Mega Millions or having Chayanne show up at your doorstep with a bouquet of orchids singing “Yo Te Amo”, no… I do not believe there is.  I have traveled to many different places, my favorite of all being Japan.  And yes, I will admit that I have done the “fan thing” and have traveled to many different places just to see Chayanne in concert (Canada, San Diego, Panama).  Seems like everything goes back to Vise #2 doesn’t it? :)
Vise#5 – Blogging?  This is TBD :)
I hope that you enjoy reading my entries as much as I will love to write them.  Please feel free to leave comments and ask anything you wish.  I would like to say a big THANK YOU to Pandora for letting me into this wonderful world of hers.  I hope I do you proud!
