In The End There Can Be Only One....Chayanne That Is

"I am Elmer Figuero Arce of the Clan Arce.......I was born in the year 1968 in the village of San Lorenzo, in the breath taking island of Puerto Rico.....and I am Immortal."

Ok, so maybe Chayanne isn't immortal a la "Highlander", but he's as unique as you could ever possibly get. (I have no idea how many of you are familiar with the Highlander series....but I am a huge fan!)

Recently in the news, there have been reports of Leonardo Zapata Reyes, former member of the Latin group Aventura, using the name Chayanne as his stage name. Mind you, using stage names is extremely common in the entertainment industry, but WHY, would another music artist, Latin music artist at that, decide to use the name of the the single most famous Latin mega star of our time? Es que el hombre loco?!

Chayanne tweeted a new article from Primerahora.com that made reference to the matter, so apparently Chayanne was having some serious feelings about this. In Chayanne ususal smooth style, he didn't go on a rant about the article, he simply tweeted the link to the article.

What brought a smile to my face in the midst of all the shocking news of the article is that it was Chayanne's fans that first reported the "would be doppelganger" to  CHAF offices. Way to go Chayanne fans! Beyond the shadow of a doubt are the best fans in the entire world!! It just goes to show how much love and support Chayanne inspires within his fans.

The entire matter is being handled legally, and of course Mr. "What's His Name" didn't have too much to say about the issue. The bottom line is that "Chayanne" is a registered trademark in the United States and Puerto Rico.

If you want to be in the entertainment industry, please be original, be yourself, and ride on your own merits. By the way if you're looking for a stage name, Chayanne is already taken......

In the end, there can be only ONE!

P.S: If they decide to do another "Highlander" film Chayanne would be perfect! We already know he can handle himself with a sword *WINK*

With that said, I'm going to leave you in the hands of the killer rock band Queen singing the theme song to "Highlander"  they're not Latin.....but they're hot! Rest in peace Freddie Mercury, there will never be another like you.
